Ellie’s 9th birthday was a fun one for the books! Her favorite Disney movie and Princess right now is Princess and the Frog, Princess Tiana! Her favorite part of the movie is that Tiana gets her own fine dining restaurant that serves beignets! So join us in the streets of New Orleans at Tiana’s Market and dine at Ellie’s Place to celebrate her birthday!

Ellie’s Place Restaurant
This is my absolute favorite part of the party! So many details to share with it all but let’s start with “Ellie’s Place”. I turned our playroom into the restaurant with the dining table under the “Ellie” marquee -perfect decor already in place. For the outside of the “restaurant”, I had a cardboard street lamp (to resemble the streets of New Orleans), a “please wait to be seated” sign, awnings above the doors and a grand opening sign on a chalkboard that I already had with balloons down the side.
Tablescape
The only thing Ellie requested was that her and her friends sit at a fancy dining table. So I got a gauze runner and napkins in sage, light pink plates and plastic champagne glasses, complete with flowers and candlesticks. The magnolia flower is a very popular flower for New Orleans, so I used that for the centerpiece. The confetti I used had gold tiaras in it, so I used those to glue onto the champagne glasses for a cute detail. Confetti was sprinkles on the table as well with gold crowns and pieces that said “Ellie”.
New Orleans Market
So when we went with the Ellie’s Place restaurant idea, I thought let’s have a little street market with a coffee shop, patisserie, flower stand and gift shop for the party favors and activity. I already had a patisserie and coffee sign. I hand made a gift shop banner and used a jumbo balloon with sticker letters for the “flower bar”. In the “patisserie”, we displayed her birthday cake with a tiana topper – which was a Princess Tiana Christmas ornament from Pottery Barn Kids that I taped to a skewer. The bakery also had cupcakes, macarons and of course, New Orleans famous beignets!! They were placed in cute bakery boxes with cut outs of Tiana, a frog and a glittery castle, wrapped in sage ribbon.
The coffee shop was set up with Starbucks coffee for the parents and hot cocoa for the kids, along with the creamers and whipped cream toppings. The flower bar was for the girls to make small bouquets for themselves and wrap in craft paper and sage ribbon. We also hung vines between the flower bar and restaurant that you had to walk through to get to the activity. This was to resemble the bayou! The kids loved it!!
The gift shop had aprons for the kids to decorate with fabric markers, which was one of the party activities. Also displayed were burlap market bags adorned with ribbon for the girls to place their aprons in while they “went shopping” and to carry their flower bouquets in. The bags also had Mardi Gras beads! And finally, a wall mural of a jazz band was displayed by the front door with a happy birthday banner. All the details made for one exciting party!
Enjoy the rest of the photos! Which part do you like best?!
