As soon as I saw these gingerbread man napkins and peppermint napkins, I knew I needed to set a party for my little girl! Being the year of Covid, my 6 year old only child has been down and majorly bored not being able to see her friends like she used to. So I thought to cheer her up we’d create a beautiful mini party with a family friend so she could have a play date. This also served as cute Christmas pictures!! Another major source of inspiration for this shoot was Lu at Life’s Frostings. Everything she does is pure magic! I’ll show you a couple things I’ve pulled from her ideas, from the table cloth fabric to the backdrop.

Table Setting
For the table, I grabbed a yard of fabric from Joann Fabric in this glitzy, shiny sequin that I knew would give the right dazzle! I’ve seen Lu from Life’s Frostings do this recently with a sequin tablecloth. I’ve done so before as well with burlap for a burlap tablecloth. You don’t need to buy a proper tablecloth to create the look you are going for. I draped this piece of fabric on a diagonal across the table. A pink charger and Meri Meri scallop plates gave the perfect girly vibe along with the adorable napkin trio! A great tip I have is to use themed napkins or themed plates to add to your decor! I love Katy of Forrest & Meadow’s Peppermint felt ball garland! Added a pop of color to the table.
A simple and quick DIY were these gingerbread man wands! I made a paper fan from card stock and found wood gingerbread men ornaments at Michaels for only $1! I cut off the ornament string and painted them mint. Then hot glued it to the paper fan, and hot glued a skewer and ribbon. Simple and sweet.

Backdrop
The Party Backdrop! A long time ago, I saw Lu of Life’s Frostings create a backdrop DIY from streamers, yarn, plastic tablecloth strips, fabric strips, fringe, etc. Her tutorial was to get a piece of foam core I believe or a sturdy, large rectangle of cardboard, and then “tape, tape, tape”!! haha. And honestly it’s so easy!!! At first, I just got a poster board from the Dollar Tree, and taped strips of crepe streamers, cut strips of plastic tablecloth to the poster board and just alternated colors. Then I added in gold fringe, tissue fringe and this thick furry yarn to give it some texture! To hang it, I just poked holes in the top and used clear jewelry line to hang it. You can’t see the holes since the streamers cover it up! Added a couple of large balloons and a balloon garland to the play tent to finish it off!
My bar cart was set for hot cocoa with tree marshmallows, pink peppermint marshmallows and peppermint candy stir spoons! My table had frosted gingerbread cookies and the girls were set! Who else is ready for Christmas?!
