Hi all! Happy to share with you my daughter Ellie’s “7 is Sweet” birthday party! This girl looooves her candy and sweets so I thought it was the perfect theme. I went with pastel colors and a black accent color to give it a modern twist. I have a few cute ideas for you if you are throwing a candy or sweets themed party!

Backdrop
Since this was just a family party due to covid, I kept it simple. Pink is usually my go to color. I just love it! I love the pop of bright coral too! I made the 7 is Sweet banner. You can find the tutorial here. Hanging the tissue paper garlands in a swaggering style gave it a fun, whimsey look! Lauren from Oh How Charming is my go to for party balloon garlands! They last forever, and she can color match so well! I hung an ice cream plate in the garland. And I created an over sized piece of candy by wrapping tissue paper and cellophane around a balloon and tying the ends with string!

Desserts
For a sweets party, of course there will be an absurd amount of sweets! haha. I created a candy tray of bubble gum, sour gummy candies and m & m’s. I also had mini starburst chews spilling out of a sugar cone. In the center of the board were my handmade crayons in pastel colors that said “Gimme some sugar”. Crayons can even be used as decor!
I jazzed up a store bought cake! Don’t be afraid to do this! This cake was a 4 flavor cake (because again, at a sweets party, we need all the varieties, right?!) Laser Tag Gift Co. created the adorable “Sugar Rush” cake topper. I added a few macarons and stuck a half donut in the side with tooth picks. Two lollipops topped the cake and a tiny lip plate, as if someone is tasting the cake! I also made some fruit skewer kabobs with some fruit by the foot layered on the bottom and topped with a macaron.
Table Decor
In my flower centerpiece, I stuck a mini pink balloon in the center of my tiny lip plate, as if the lips were blowing bubble gum! I taped it to a skewer so that I could insert it to my arrangement. Fete Gazette gave me the initial inspiration from a Halloween DIY she did for Handmade Charlotte. Here she used a mini balloon as if the skeleton was blowing bubble gum.
For the tableware, I use Oh Happy Day plates, a layered pink and coral, along with Meri Meri Happy Doodle napkins and a peppermint candy napkin, because – candy. I often get a lot of my party supplies at Ellie and Piper Co. The black flatware was a way to add in the black accent color.
On each place setting, I included a sweets themed ornament as a party favor. I collected them over Christmas time, and just thought they were the cutest way to add decor to the table. I had cotton candy, macaron, gum ball machine, donut, cupcake and ice cream popsicle.
On the chair backs, I attached an ice cream plate that had a laser cut wood name piece on it. I think that can be a really fun detail to add to your parties! What’s your favorite part? Anyone ever throw a candy or sweets themed party? Hope you enjoy the rest of the photos!
