Vintage Kids Halloween Party

Cats, Bats & Ghosts, oh my! Halloween is a pretty big deal around our house. My husband starts decorating on Labor Day. HA! Here are some of my ideas for my daughter’s Halloween party! I knew I wanted it a little bit vintage-y. And was going for black cats and ghosts and bats. I had an idea for a DIY chandelier to hang above the kids table. And I’m loving how it came together!

Backdrop

This inflatable cat arch is normally in our drive way and you have to walk thru it! But for the party, I knew it would make a great backdrop with the cat theme. My husband found this at Lowe’s a couple years ago, and this year we saw the same style in a whole inflatable tunnel! I made a simple banner that said “Freaking Meowt”. I crack myself up! Ha! If you want to make your own easy party banner, check out my tutorial.

Food

How cute are these PB & J Spider sandwiches?? I set the tray on a gold placemat from Oriental Trading, since it looked like a spider web. The chalk board was from Target years ago, but the cute cat I just picked up there recently! The Boo pumpkin was from the Dollar Tree!

Since I was going with cats, bats and ghosts, I knew I needed one of each on the table. For bats, I added bat wings to push pops! I found a free template online just by googling and cut out the bat wings. Brownie bites and chocolate frosting made the body dark to match the wings. For the ghosts, I grabbed some marshmallow peep ghosts and stuck them on lollipop sticks and into homemade chocolate cupcakes. The cute lil skeleton was from a boutique shop years ago, that has since closed down. I actually have 2 of them, and we named them both Charlie. Haha. The EEK sign is from the Dollar Spot at Target.

For the cats, I cut out cat heads on gold paper and used googley eyes and pipe cleaners to decorate and used the bags for popcorn. Also had cheese sticks with ghost faces I drew on them. Dessert plates came from the Dollar Spot at Target.

Tablescape

For the kids table, I had black cat plates from The Parties that Pop on Etsy. Ghost napkins you can find at Oh So Fancy Party on Etsy. The slime party favors and the felt bats that I taped to the milk bottle glasses I found at the Dollar Spot from Target! Target pretty much rules my shopping scene. The Potions & Poisons cart centerpiece also came from Target. I have a Target habit. =)

I love these gold woven placemats from Oriental Trading. I think they looked like a web, so it’s perfect for Halloween!

DIY Hula Hoop Chandelier

Last but not least was this DIY hula hoop chandelier. So easy! I covered a hula hoop with white streamer paper and taped strands of tissue fringe in different lengths to give it a whimsey feel. You can get tissue fringe at Michaels in a variety of colors. I hand cut bats from card stock and taped them on. Quick and easy! If you have a Cricut machine, I’m sure it’s even easier to have them made. Fishing line is what I used to make it look like it’s floating. Anyone else throwing a kids Halloween party this year? I hope you got some inspiration for your own party!
