Prepping for Valentine's Day

Hi there! Thought I’d share how I prep for parties in a quick post. I volunteered to host my daughter’s Valentine’s Day party at her preschool, as it will be her birthday week as well! I bought some supplies, made some crafts and did a mini test run to see if the items went together well. Her school parties are never elaborate with full dessert tables and party games. But it’s nice that the kids get to celebrate the holidays together and the parents are invited to spend an hour in the classroom with them.

I always start my party planning by checking out Pinterest and Instagram to get some ideas and see what’s trending for a particular holiday or theme. Because I want to be the cool mom, right? đŸ˜‰ Next is hitting Target and the Dollar Tree to see their selections, as they are typically the most affordable. You’ll see me talking about being affordable a lot. Affordable doesn’t mean it has to be plain or boring or even look cheap. It means finding the best priced items that will still carry out your party vision. While Target had a super cute line of Valentine’s Day items, Dollar Tree was on point this year with their party supplies too!

Dollar Tree had the cute plates, forks and Valentine’s card mail box centerpieces. They also had the glitter heart table confetti and favor boxes of stickers. Preschoolers and stickers go together like peanut butter and jelly, so I thought that was a great party favor. Target had the cute heart-shaped glasses that will be at each kids seat as well. I had an extra pack of napkins from last years line of Target’s Valentine’s supplies that I thought matched so well.

I wanted to make a decoration to hang on the food table in the classroom. It’s a smaller table so “Happy Valentine’s Day” would have been too long. I made a simple “XOXO” banner from card stock and glitter letters. Make your own banner with this tutorial! While I have made my own tassel garlands in the past, I found these tassels at Just Artifacts. The tissue paper comes pre cut, but you do need to assemble them. I will follow up with a post from the school party! As well as the treats I’m making for it! Thanks for stopping by!
