Strawberry Cheesecake Trifle

My friend Taressa sent me a family recipe she has been using for years and it was so wonderful, I thought I’d share it (with her blessing of course!) I made it for my Mother’s Day shoot and will be making it again soon! It’s a great spring or summer time treat!

Ingredients:

Cake:

1 store bought angel food cake, cut into cubes (You will probably only need half or so)

Cheesecake:

2 packages cream cheese, 8 oz. each, at room temp

2 cups powdered sugar

1 cup plain greek yogurt

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 tbsp sugar, to add to cream

Strawberries:

2 pounds fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

3 tbsp sugar

3 tbsp Amaretto

Directions:

1. Cream together the cream cheese and powdered sugar in a large bowl. Add in greek yogurt and vanilla extract, then set aside. In a metal chilled bowl, whip the heavy whipping cream and sugar together until light and fluffy. Fold it into the cream cheese mixture and set aside.

2. Toss together strawberries, sugar and Amaretto. Layer in mason jars – strawberries, cake cubes and cheesecake filling. Repeat for another layer. Tightly close the mason jar lids and chill.

Tips:

– These mason jar desserts make for fun party favors as well to give out at the end of a bridal shower, baby shower or Mother’s Day party. Just add Thank You tags!

– You can do this in a formal trifle bowl instead of individual mason jars!

Enjoy!!
