Pre-school Valentine's Day Party

Valentine's Day has been a busy one for me! I hosted my daughter's pre-school party today and was busy baking up treats! I'd love to show you a few pictures from her party! I made vanilla cupcakes and hand made these cupcake toppers. Check out my tutorial on how to make your own cupcake toppers! I made a simple "XOXO" banner from card stock and glitter letters. Make your own banner with this tutorial! For the cheese and crackers tray, I used a small heart cookie cutter to make cheese hearts! I wish I could have gotten more and better photos! But the party was fast and furious! Ha! Most of the decor and tableware I found at The Dollar Tree- the Valentine's mail box centerpieces, table confett

Prepping for Valentine's Day

Hi there! Thought I'd share how I prep for parties in a quick post. I volunteered to host my daughter's Valentine's Day party at her preschool, as it will be her birthday week as well! I bought some supplies, made some crafts and did a mini test run to see if the items went together well. Her school parties are never elaborate with full dessert tables and party games. But it's nice that the kids get to celebrate the holidays together and the parents are invited to spend an hour in the classroom with them. I always start my party planning by checking out Pinterest and Instagram to get some ideas and see what's trending for a particular holiday or theme. Because I want to be the cool mom, righ

The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown Halloween Party

Our family LOVES Halloween! This was one of my favorite parties yet, and my daughter Ellie had a blast with her friends! This is not an ad for Oriental Trading, but it should be! Ha! They had the cutest products for this theme and I basically got everything from their online store. There are always free shipping sales or $20 off your purchase deals to make it really affordable! I have a backdrop frame that I got from Oriental Trading years ago as well that I use for almost every party. I hung the backdrop on that and used halloween garland from the Dollar Tree to give it a border. Hay Bales were from Joann Fabric and all of the cardboard character stands and paper products were from Oriental

Carnival 1st Birthday Party

Event Venders Invitations & some paper goods: ModParty on Etsy Catering: Cafe Everyday Sunday Cakes: Charm City Cakes West This party was featured on Catch My Party! I've always loved a carnival themed party, so my daughter's first birthday was the perfect time to get my fix! For Ellie's carnival, I kept with traditional colors of red, white, blue and yellows/golds. I hand made her banner. (Check out my DIY Crafts page for a tutorial on how to make a banner!) Strands of tissue garland make for a statement backdrop! I found mine at Shop Sweet Lulu. Framing the invitation is always a nice touch and adds to the decor. Fresh hydrangeas were the perfect "popcorn" for my popcorn box vases that wer

30 Something Birthday Party - Kate Spade Inspired

When turning another year older doesn't sound appealing at all, it's best to party with your besties. Let's just stick with 30 Something; we no longer need specifics. =) The Kate Spade themed parties were and still are a definite trend! And I love it! Probably one of my favorite color schemes with hot pink, black, white and gold! "Donut kill my vibe" cake topper was by All That Glitters Party Shoppe on Etsy. I used flower wrapping paper that I found at Target in my white Ikea vintage-looking frame. What's wonderful about that frame is that it's so affordable ($24.99) and you can do so much with it! You will see it in many of my party pictures. I often frame wrapping paper that matches my par

Bachelorette Party Inspiration

Every gal needs her girlfriends! And of course it needs to be a fabulous setting of hot pinks and golds! By finding a few affordable products at Target, Michaels and online stores, and lots of easy crafting, I created a girly Kate Spade inspired bachelorette party! I found the bow plates online at Shop Sweet Lulu and the wooden cutlery at Zurchers. The bow paper punch was a key piece to the overall design. I made lots of pink and gold paper bows and used them everywhere. Glued them to lollipop sticks for instant cupcake toppers. Learn how easy it is to make toppers here. They were also glued to black and white paper straws found at Target and simple black and white name cards found at Michae

How to Make an Easy Party Banner

Something I sold a lot of on Etsy were party banners! And they were all hand made! Someday I hope to own a Cricut machine, which can make some stunning, detailed and professional party banners, crafts and other party decor. But they are an investment. This tutorial is an affordable solution. Pretty simple to make and gives a clean, stylish look. What you need: Card stock, colors of your choice Ribbon Scissors Sticker letters Standard hole punch How to: 1. First you'll want to make yourself pennant templates out of card stock that you can use over and over. The ones shown here were my original templates and I've used them for 3 years! My outer pennant is 5 1/2 inches by 7 1/4 inches. Cut the

Are you always trying to get your kid to eat more veggies like I am? I found a great combination of hidden veggies that still taste like a regular muffin! While I am no great cook, I do love baking! Because of this, too often we have sweets around the house. So I'm always looking for healthy baking ideas. While looking for some hidden veggie recipes online, I came across a basic carrot cake muffin recipe that I wanted to try. The thing was, I did not have any carrots in the fridge. I did have zucchini and canned carrots, so I did a little experiment! They really turned out moist and wonderful! Yes, you do see a picture of a GoGo applesauce squeeze pouch in my ingredients, HA! It's what I had
